    Hello and Introduction

    Hi there!!

I'm Sheilah Davis. I didn't originally aspire to be a hypnotist. I really wanted to be a lumberjack!! I've always wanted to say that. Actually, I wanted to be a jazz musician but I was incredibly shy and the stage fright really got to me. So, at the age of fourteen my dad gave me a ratty old pocket book on self-hypnosis and I've been studying the subject since.

In college, I made the mistake of changing my major from music to psychology believing that I would never make use of music theory. Ha, now I have to buy music from Charles Vald for my hypnosis CDs until I go back to school to gain more confidence as a composer. On the bright side, though, it was a valuable lesson in trusting one's intuition.

Let's see, what else I can tell you. Hmmm...I have a graduate degree in psychology. My master's thesis involved writing a children's book intended to ease dental fear in older children who had never been to the dentist. The project was inspired by my interest in covert hypnosis and the use of the written word as a form of persuasion. My academic advisor suggested that I consider becoming a certified hypnotist and I finally did so in 2000 (via the Eastern Institute of Hypnotherapy). I've been taking various training here and there since that time.

Cal Banyan is my hero. Honestly, I stumbled upon a forum entitled Confessions of an Overweight Hypnotist. At the time, I was a new mom about forty pounds overweight who really didn't give losing the weight too much thought until that day. Inspired, I managed to lose all of my excess weight within a few months and am actually thinner than I was in high school! I was hoping to make it to the NGH convention to thank him personally but that didn't materialize this year.

Right now, I'm in the process of setting up my private practice and plan to open my office this fall. It is inspiring to meet so many successful hypnotists in one place. Thank you for the opportunity!

I wish each and every one of you the best of success! Please share your successes; I will certainly value the opportunity to cheer you on!

Wishing you the brightest of blessings,

    Sheilah
